STORY BEHIND THE ORGANIZATION

It all started a long time ago, yes fourteen years passed by. It initiated when a group of Assamese youth, decided to free their state from the larger part of the country. In the name of freedom, they focused on turning children to orphans, freed to slaves, married to widows and of course fit to lame. This story is one of the instances of faultless sufferings faced by a common family.
This is a story about the cursed fate of a family which led to the benefit of the entire society. Yes accidents can also be rewarding. "Accident to achievement" this is what the entire story can be tagline as. What human cannot provide a solution is fate. Fate can change our existence. But there are times, when we cannot fault our fate to be evil. However doggone fate might be it depends upon the individual who grips it in his palms.
Nothing is permanent in life not even sorrows. And if we are capable of utilizing our sorrows as well, it can turn into a lifetime achievement. Such is the case of Nabajyoti Hazarika, who was turned into a live man with a dead body without the fault of his own. Nabajyoti Hazarika, (42) completed his B.Sc. (Agri) (batch1999) and M.Sc. (Agri) (batch 2001) from Assam Agricultural University (AAU), Jorhat. He was a multi talented individual who excelled in both academics and cultural field, prior to the injury caused in a bomb blast on 24 June 2004 in Mathurapur TE, Sonari, Sivasagar, Assam. Nabajyoti was travelling by a bus to attend a job interview and unfortunately a bomb exploded just above his bus seat. As a result, Nabajyoti received serious head injury. He was taken to a hospital in Dibrugarh, Assam. There started his actual battle as he was in coma for thirty two days. He has partially recovered, but lost his memory, voice, left eye sight and paralysis of the right side of the body.
Nabajyoti's accident left a tragic impact on his family. The disability of their elder son turned the entire family into emotionally crippled. The doctors declared only physiotherapy and speech therapy is the treatment for him. At that time physiotherapy services are not so available in his native place and therefore, they Nabajyoti and his younger brother stayed there in Dibrugarh for 1 year to continue physiotherapy and speech therapy at Maruwari Arogya Bhaban, Dibrugarh. After 1 year of physiotherapy Nabajyoti could stand independently and was unable to speak properly. After 1 year they went home and use to do physiotherapy by hiring physiotherapist from Jorhat which was very expensive for them and therefore, they have stopped the physiotherapy. It was then, Nabajyoti's younger brother Arunjyoti, decided to pursue physiotherapy in order to cure the entire family's paralyzed soul. All we need in our lives is proper training. Training to shapes our incompleteness, If we direct our mind to focus on achieving something, "I will" it will lead to "I can". During those days, there were no any advanced facilities of physiotherapy in Assam. Mr. Indreswar Boruah, of Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh, asked Arunjyoti to study the graduation course of Physiotherapy i.e., BPT (Bachelor of Physiotherapy) and then MPT (Master of Physiotherapy) so that he can help in his brother’s recovery and treatment as well as to the other peoples also. Arunjyoti completed the course with outmost stubbornness. Out of somewhere, a thought came into his mind; why not establish a centre to erase the static state of other patients too. His thought led to the establishment of the NGO NABAJYOTI PHYSIOTHERPY RESEARCH CENTER”.
